D-Series cameras meet the strictest global standards for explosive atmospheres — covering gases, vapors, combustible dusts, and ignitable fibers including hydrogen.
Questions from Engineers & Procurement Teams
The choice depends on your surveillance objective and installation constraints. The D101 is the right choice when wide-area or perimeter coverage is the priority — panoramic and fisheye configurations eliminate the need for multiple fixed cameras in open process areas. The D201 in 316L Stainless Steel is specified where the environment is highly corrosive — marine topside, coastal chemical, or wash-down areas where aluminum would be insufficient. The D401 in Marine-Grade Aluminum is preferred for elevated or offshore installations where weight is a structural constraint. Our engineering team can cross-reference your area classification, connectivity requirements, and site conditions to confirm the right configuration.
Spectrum provides a complete documentation package for engineering and procurement teams: datasheets, installation manuals, original certification documents (IECEx, FM, ATEX, INMETRO, PESO, UKCA), declaration of conformity, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality certificates, and bill of materials per assembly. US patent documentation (US 9917428 and US D858611) is also available. For project-specific submittals or expedited documentation requests, contact our technical team directly.
D-Series cameras are built around industry-standard camera platforms from Axis, Avigilon, Bosch, and Pelco — all of which have broad VMS integration support via ONVIF and manufacturer SDKs. Integration with SCADA systems typically occurs at the network layer; the camera provides standard IP video streams (RTSP/H.264/H.265) that can be consumed by any compliant video management or monitoring platform. For specific integration requirements, contact us with your VMS platform details and we will confirm compatibility before specification.
Lead times vary by configuration and camera platform. Standard assemblies are typically available within 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. For project-based procurement with defined quantities, Spectrum can discuss stocking agreements to reduce lead times for phased installations. Contact our sales team with your project schedule and bill of materials for a committed delivery timeline.
For installations subject to mechanical vibration — compressor decks, pump skids, rotating equipment areas — the SCS-VM Vibration Mount is available as a certified accessory. The SD-RSK Reliable Securing Kit included with every D-Series camera also incorporates vibration-ready bolted connection hardware and a secondary retention cable, ensuring the assembly remains secure even under dynamic load conditions. This compliance with DROPS (Dropped Object Prevention Scheme) standards is particularly relevant for offshore and elevated installations.
Yes. Equipment certified for Division 1 and Zone 1 — the most stringent hazardous area classifications — is inherently approved for use in Division 2 and Zone 2 areas of the same class and group. Specifying D-Series cameras in Division 2 or Zone 2 areas is therefore permissible and provides an added layer of safety margin for areas where hazardous conditions may occasionally be present.
D-Series enclosures are designed for standard NPT conduit connections compatible with North American installation practices, and are also available with metric thread options for IEC installations. Spectrum can advise on certified cable gland selections appropriate for your cable type, conductor count, and area classification. Proper conduit sealing (sealing fittings within 18 inches of the enclosure) is required per NEC 501 for Division 1 installations — our technical team can support your electrical contractor with installation guidance.
D-Series cameras are designed and manufactured by Spectrum Camera Solutions at our Houston, Texas facility. Production operates under ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management) certification, with full material and process traceability. US manufacturing supports NDAA compliance requirements and simplifies procurement for customers with domestic content requirements in federal, defense, or energy sector contracts. A 5-year manufacturer's warranty applies to all D-Series assemblies.
