Explosion Proof Cameras
for Oil & Gas
From upstream drilling operations to downstream refinery processing, Spectrum's globally certified explosion-proof cameras provide continuous visual monitoring in the hazardous classified areas common throughout the oil and gas value chain.
Why Standard Cameras
Are Not an Option
Oil and gas facilities — from wellheads and drilling rigs to refineries and LNG terminals — operate in environments where flammable hydrocarbon gases and vapors are present under normal operating conditions. These areas are classified as Class I Division 1 or Zone 1 under NEC and IECEx standards respectively.
Standard electrical equipment, including conventional security cameras, can produce sparks or surface temperatures sufficient to ignite a surrounding explosive atmosphere. Only equipment that has been independently tested and certified for use in these classified areas may be installed.
Compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and applicable international standards is required at all oil and gas facilities in the United States and internationally. Explosion-proof cameras are not an optional upgrade — they are the minimum requirement for any visual monitoring system installed in a classified area.
Applicable Classifications
Spectrum cameras are certified for Class I Division 1 & 2 and Zone 1 & 2, meeting both North American and international standards. View certifications →

What Explosion Proof Cameras
Enable in Oil & Gas
Remote Visual Monitoring
Monitor hazardous classified areas — drill floors, flare stacks, process units, and tank farms — from a control room without sending personnel into the zone. Reduces human exposure to risk during normal operations and emergencies.
Regulatory Compliance
Certified cameras support compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70, and applicable international standards. Certification documentation is available for project submittals and facility audits in North American and international markets.
Operational Continuity
Real-time visual access to critical process areas supports faster incident detection and response. PTZ cameras allow operators to inspect valves, gauges, and equipment remotely without interrupting operations.
Turnaround & Maintenance Support
During planned maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds, cameras provide visual documentation, support contractor oversight, and enable remote inspection of areas being brought back online.
